Vigilance Committee
🛡️ Jagratha Samithi
A local protection mechanism working for the protection of the rights and safety of women and children
What is Jagratha Samithi?
Jagratha Samithi is a protection platform that works continuously with vigilance at the local level to ensure the rights of women and children, their physical and mental well-being and life safety, and to prevent violence, rights violations, and social restrictions against them.
The main duty of the committee is to immediately intervene in urgent issues faced by women and children and ensure necessary protection and legal assistance. Jagratha Samithi can intervene legally and socially in cases and issues that remain unaddressed due to the absence of various committees or mechanisms.
🎯 Objectives and Goals
- Protect the rights of women and children and take strong interventions against violence, discrimination, exploitation, and violations of justice against them.
- Receive complaints in which women and children are parties and ensure resolution through immediate interventions and support mechanisms.
- Forward complaints that cannot be directly resolved by the committee to related mechanisms such as the District Jagratha Samithi, Women's Commission, and legal aid agencies, and ensure follow-up action.
- Coordinate government schemes and agencies related to the protection of the rights of women and girls.
- Implement joint activities in cooperation with other institutions working with similar objectives.
- Create a safe social environment where there is no form of violence against women and children.
- Ensure the achievement of objectives by forming people's collectives and social participation mechanisms.
- Ensure social monitoring and support against activities detrimental to women and children.
