Kudumbashree

Kudumbashree is a state-level mission launched in 1998 with the objective of poverty eradication and women empowerment by the Government of Kerala. Working in collaboration with Local Self Government Institutions, this system implements various programmes for the economic, social and cultural advancement of women.

Kudumbashree functions through a three-tier system comprising Neighbourhood Group (NHG), Area Development Society (ADS), and Community Development Society (CDS). The main objectives of Kudumbashree are to develop the habit of savings among women, promote self-employment enterprises, provide access to credit facilities, increase employment opportunities, and involve women in social welfare activities.

Today, Kudumbashree has grown into one of the world's largest women's collectives and continues to play a crucial role in strengthening women's economic self-reliance and social leadership.
