🌳 Panchayat Level Tree Committee
The Panchayat Level Tree Committee is a committee formed at the Panchayat level for the protection of trees existing on public roads and public places, and for avoiding accidents that may occur due to trees or their branches being uprooted or falling down.
Panchayat Level Tree Committees have been formed as per the 14.07.2017 Circular No. 248/RC.3/2016/LSGD of the Local Self Government Department. Currently, this committee functions at the local level to avoid delays in situations where permission from the District Level Tree Committee is required for cutting and removing trees, and to take timely decisions in emergency situations.

📋 Main Responsibilities
- Check whether trees and branches in public places are creating a risk of danger.
- Take necessary action regarding trees that pose a threat to the life and property of the general public.
- Direct owners to cut and remove dangerous trees located on privately owned properties.
- In cases of non-compliance with the direction, take appropriate legal action and recover the expenses from the concerned person.
- Ensure that the valuation of trees being cut and removed is carried out through the Forest Department.
- Coordinate tree protection activities within the jurisdiction of the Panchayat and ensure a safe environment.
- Take measures to ensure both environmental protection and public safety equally.
