Palliative Care
🏥 Palliative Care Activities
The main objective of palliative care is to provide physical, psychological, social, and spiritual support to patients who are in the final stages of life or suffering from long-term illnesses. Rather than curing the disease, the aim of palliative care is to improve the patient's quality of life and ensure mental comfort for the patient and family members. In Marvanthuruthu Village Panchayat, palliative care activities are being effectively implemented under the leadership of the Family Health Centre. Patients are visited at their homes, and necessary medical assistance, medication guidance, wound care, counselling, and training for family members are provided.
Home Care Service
The palliative care team directly visits the homes of patients, assesses their health condition, and provides necessary care and treatment. This service is especially helpful for bedridden patients and those who are unable to travel.
Pain Management
Scientific treatment and care are provided to reduce pain and discomfort among patients suffering from long-term illnesses such as cancer, paralysis, age-related diseases, and kidney diseases.
Family Support
Counselling, training, psychological support, and guidance on how to safely care for the patient are provided to family members who take care of the patient.
Medicine Distribution
Health workers provide necessary support to make essential medicines available to palliative care patients as per the doctor's prescription and to ensure continuous treatment.
Volunteer Services
Volunteers visit patients, provide social and psychological support, and coordinate necessary services.
